Department of Sociology, with the Faculty of Sciences and Arts, was opened within the scope of faculty in the same year. The department began to admit students in the 2010-2011 of academic year. The department that continues education activity by implementing normal (day) and evening education programs accepts 100 students every year. There are four departments as being about General Sociology and Methodology, Sociology of Institutions, sociometry and applied sociology in Sociology Department.

Admission Requirements
For Turkish students, High School Diploma and getting into a university as a result of passing undergraduate placement exam that is performed by OSYM (student selection and placement center). For Foreign students, it is enough to have general acceptance conditions.
Higher Grade Transition
May apply to master’s or doctorate programmes.
Graduation Requirements
Students who have successfully completed all courses in the curriculum (240 ECTS) and have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) 60 out of 100.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
The graduated students of Sociology Department, by gaining pedagogical formation, may work as sociologist, researcher expert, assistant specialist or officer in city halls, strategic research centers, reformatories, jails, kindergartens, in need care of children’s homes, state institute of statistics, state planning organization, association of manufacturers, unions so forth institutions as well as working as teacher in primary and high schools. They can also work as academicians in relevant departments in universities.
Assessment and Grading
The students are subject to mid-term, mid-work (projects, seminars, quizzes, homework or a second mid-term) and the final exam. Bingol University Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations item 31 and 32 are applied in the measurement and evaluation process.
