English Language and Literature

History
Bingol University, - English Language and Literature, founded within the Faculty of Arts and Science, with English Linguistics offers a traning program containing courses offering the periods of English Literauture from its rise to the present like British Novel, English Poetry, British theater, Shakespeare, British Culture and History as well as courses aiming language teaching such as Linguistics, Advanced English Grammar and Advanced Vocabulary.
Besides, international culture courses such as American Culture and Literature, Modern American Novel and Multi-culturalism which are integrated with English Literature are also offered. In the department at graduate level, dual training is applied as Daytime Education and Evening Education.
English Language and Literature Department accepts 100 students in total, 50 in Daytime Education and 50 students in Evening Education at graduate level.

Admission Requirements
High School Diploma, Placement through a nation-wide Student Selection and Placement Examinations (YGS and LYS),
For foreign students, High School Diploma plus placement of the student by the university according to his score in Foreign Student Examination and student’s preferences.
Higher Grade Transition
May apply to master’s or doctorate programmes.
Graduation Requirements
Students who have successfully completed all courses in the curriculum (240 ECTS) and have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) 60 out of 100.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
When the students have BA diploma, they can teach English in various courses. Those with pedagogical formation can work as English teachers in public schools.
Assessment and Grading
The students are subject to mid-term, mid-work (projects, seminars, quizzes, homework or a second mid-term) and the final exam. Bingol University Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations item 31 and 32 are applied in the measurement and evaluation process.
